Fire Service
Welcome to the Isle of Man Airport Fire Services section. In here you will find information about the AFS, why it is required and what equipment it uses.

The Fire Station, is situated on the southside of the Airfield, facing Runway 08/26.It is directly opposite the Terminal Buildings, affords an excellent view from the Watchroom of all Touchdown Points and the Principal Inshore Rescue Launch Site is 100 metres to the rear of the Station.
The Station Has 5 Appliance Bays, the Bay floor is covered in non-slip quarry tiles. To the rear of each Appliance is an electrical connection for the appliances engine heater and air compressor, these are fitted with Auto-eject plugs, so the Appliances may be driven away without being manually dis-connected. The Appliance Bay Doors are electrically operated and open in 5 seconds, they are fitted with a manual overide, give adequate clearance for the Appliances width and top hamper and allow a quick and safe Exit.
The Bay Ceilings are high enough to allow the tallest person to work on top of the Appliances, leaving safe headroom. They are well lit and are large enough to allow Crews easy access round the Appliances and to the Lockers.
The Fire Station is predominantly a single storey structure with the Appliance Bays to the West End of the building and the Accommodation to the East, above the Accommodation is the Station Gym and above that the Watchroom.
