Safety & Security
For the UK DfT current security restrictions from 6th November 2006 please click here.
The Isle of Man is part of the UK Common Travel Area, and therefore benefits from most of its services being dealt with as Domestic, rather than International flights. However, even Domestic flights are subject to the security standards laid down by the UK Department of Transport, and this is the standard adopted at the Airport.
Vehicles
Please do not leave vehicles unattended in front of the Terminal building at any time. Waiting in these areas is only allowed for as long as it takes to load and unload. The nearby public car park allows free parking for the first hour, and if someone is waiting to collect you from an arriving flight, they must leave their vehicle in the public car park.
Baggage
Please do not leave baggage unattended at any time. It may be removed and/or destroyed. If you see any unattended bags, please immediately inform any uniformed members of staff.
Check-in
The Check-in staff will ask you to answer some simple security questions regarding your baggage. You are obliged to answer these questions correctly. In addition, your bags will be x-rayed and may be searched by hand. The x-ray machines in use at this Airport do not harm camera film.
You may not carry offensive or imitation weapons, compressed gases, inflammable liquids or solids (e.g. lighter fuel).
Please remove all toy or replica guns (plastic or metal), catapults, household cutlery, knives with blades of any length, letter openers, razor blades (both open bladed and safety razors), trademen's tools, darts, scissors, knitting needles, sporting bats and clubs from you cabin baggage and place in your hold baggage. Hypodermic syringes must also be removed from cabin baggage unless required for genuine medical reasons.
Boarding
You may proceed to the Departure Lounge as soon as you have checked in. Public address and TV monitor announcements are also regularly made. Boarding cards or airline tickets must be displayed in order to obtain access to the departure area.
All passengers are subject to normal security screening by carefully trained male and female staff. It is a condition of boarding that you allow yourself to be subject to such searching as necessary to satisfy the regulations in force at any time.
Once in the Departure Lounge you may not return to check-in or arrivals unless you have permission from the airline or security staff.
